Central Eyre Iron Project

IPCC definitive feasibility study

Project Description

An open cut iron ore (magnetite) operation and processing facility, with pre-stripping planned to commence in 2016/2017 and first ore production and processing due in 2018. Total mining capacity will be 300Mtpa, with a processing rate of 140Mtpa, to gain 20Mtpa concentrate over 20+ years, from a 600m deep pit.

  • Validate the technical feasibility of a hybrid IPCC/truck-excavator mining operation
  • Demonstrate improvements in mining costs compared to a pure truck-excavator base case
  • Phase 1 – analyse and compare several alternative mine design methods and equipment system layouts to select the preferred hybrid IPCC solution
  • Phase 2 - complete mine planning, engineering and project cost estimating to demonstrate project improvement by application of IPCC technology.
